Severin Rusch is a composer, artist and performer from switzerland, who is currently based and mainly working in Bern. He studied classical and contemporary percussion at the Hochschule der Künste Bern with Brian Archinal, Jochen Schorer and Christian Hartmann and had composition lessons with Simon Steen-Andersen. As a performer, he is mainly working in the field of contemporary music and improvised music where he also gathered a lot of experience at the HKB, studying with Christian Kobi, Marc Unternährer and Marc Kilchenmann, as well a performing both solo and with different ensembles. He took part in many masterclasses including a week long masterclass during the Jazzwerkstatt bern, where he performed with an ensemble of improvisers from Bern, lead by Joëlle Léandre.
At the moment, he is doing a performance master in jazz and contemporary Music at the HKB, where he is studying with Jim Black, Dejan Terzic and Cansu Tanrıkulu among others. In his artistic practice, which ranges from music performances, sound installations, audiovisual installations, 3d art to music theatre compositions, he loves to collaborate with artists from many different fields, creating projects with mixed influences from contemporary classical music, to jazz and many other aesthetics.
